Mercury
Mercury is the first planet from the Sun and the smallest in our solar system, about the size of the Atlantic Ocean. It is named after the Roman god of the same name, which also happens to be the namesake of the element mercury. The element mercury somehow has the symbol Hg, from Greek hydrargyros, roughly meaning "watery silver". I guess that makes sense, since mercury is a liquid at room temperature and its home planet is incredibly close to the very very hot Sun. A drop of mercury happens to look like a small bean.
Meanwhile, the planet Mercury has the most eccentric orbit of any planet, varying between 29-43 million miles.
