Haiti is a country lying on the western side of Hispaniola, with the Dominican Republic occupying the east. Though officially a francophone nation, the most widely spoken language in Haiti is the most widely spoken creole.
Haiti has two prevalent religions, Christianity and Haitian Vodou, the latter descending from syncretism between West and Central African traditional beliefs and Catholicism.
