Blåhaj

The blue shark (Prionace glauca), known in Swedish as blåhaj, is a species of requiem shark found throughout the ocean.

Legacy

In Sweden, famed furniture store IKEA turned the blue shark into a marketable plushie. Initially meant to spark children's interests in marine biology, the marketable plushie was eventually adopted by various left-leaning communities, including trans people and urbanists. As such, for the latter, one of IKEA's marketable plushies will soon be the "baton" for the first Transit Relay, held across the Greater Toronto Area.
